How does a question like this sound to you, how to coach soccer or youth soccer? Although the question looks simple and easy but you’ll find it difficult to answer even if your try your best.
Communication forms one of the most important soccer skills that players and coaches should both learn. Since a coach needs to instruct players, share feedback with them, evaluate and council them and maintain discipline, good communication skills are necessary.
Players, on the other hand, talk about issues with coaches, peers, parents, share feelings (good or bad) with colleagues, and give tips and tricks to new players in the team. Coaches and players have a comprehensive language of soccer that allows them to express with one another, their feeling and ideas.
With respect to soccer coaching, there are some beliefs that the coaches must follow and subsequently teach their players.
1. Call players by their name. This is not only sound good but is also courteous.
2. The instructions that you give to the players should be first clear in your mind before going out to them.
3. Be kind: The purpose of communication is not to overpower but to bond. So make an attempt to understand their perspectives as well.
4. Be careful of your body language: It should be comfortable and easy to allow others to open up with you.
5.Make an eye contact with players when talking to them individually or together. Face the person you are talking to and look him in the eye.
6. The way you speak should make a mark upon the other person. So adopt a style that not only defines you but also suits the other person.
7. Select a subject that requires redressal. Communication is the key to finding answers, how to coach soccer is successful when it is short and clear-cut. Select a list of items and that’s it.
8. Be objective: Always remember that you are a soccer coach and are speaking to a team or an individual player. So remain in charge of your emotions and talk only about the points of the game.
9.Speak Clearly: It is critical that what you say is understood in the same spirit as you intended.
10.At the time of teaching soccer, keep talking about the important issues. Find ways to emphasize on various points time and again so that the players always remember them.
11.Try to keep the conversation funny by using words that are light and comical.
12.Devote some time and attention to your players so that they do not fear seeking clarifications from you. Give them freedom to ask questions.
A soccer coach or a player without the ability to give and receive the information necessary for the highest levels of performance is bound to suffer in the long run.
