Type 1 diabetes is a disease that destroys all of a person’s cells that are responsible for producing insulin in the person’s pancreas. When the body becomes unable to adjust itself back to a normal blood sugar level then it becomes necessary to begin taking insulin daily to maintain life.Hopefully someday science will know what caused diabetes type 1 we still do not know what causes it. However, it is generally believed that a person’s environment and genetics play a key role.
Does anyone know who is affected by Type 1 Diabetes?
Type 1 diabetes is a disease that affects more than a million people in the United States alone.Diabetes is a very bad disease to get, it could lead to blindness along with hear problems and stroking out your kidneys could be severely affected and also the circulation issues could result in amputation to limbs along with gang green when cuts don’t want to heal. Therefore, it is mandatory that those who have this disease develop a good self-management program.
Symptoms Of Type 1 Diabetes
The symptoms of type 1 diabetes include excessive thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, excessive hunger, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue and in women it causes them to stop menstruating.
Implementing A Type 1 Diabetes Self-Management Plan
Most of the time it is easier to implement a type 1 diabetes self-management plan for people who are able to maintain a consistent schedule in their lives.Unfortunately there are a lot of people diagnosed with diabetes every year and if you are one of the people who have dependants at home all day such as children or others that need help daily, young children and elderly relatives will have a harder time when those who have ones that require them to travel or work various shifts will not have it as hard as the person that stays home cleans up everything and everyone daily all day long.
Giving yourself daily injections of insulin is what self-management involves. When deciding whether to use an insulin pump or not on the up side it is very small and it can be worn under clothing around the waist,.The good thing about having the catheter put under the skin is that you don’t have to give yourself shot anymore the catheter will do it automatically around the clock. The device can be removed whenever necessary and the insulin dosages can be easily changed to keep blood sugar in check. The pump is the most convenient option available for taking care of our health, as such, the pump is a very convenient option.
When it comes down to it, having a broad range of knowledge on the disease will help when it comes to a self-management program for type 1 diabetes. The USA medical scientist continually pursue and offer a lot of new ways to help manage this disease or at least learn how to keep it under control. However, for now, those people who have type 1 diabetes should continue to do everything possible to keep the disease at bay so that they can safeguard their health.
