There are a number of easy things that you can do to increase the HDB resale price of your home and help it to sell in less time. These things do not necessarily have to cost you a lot of money, in fact it is better if they do not as you are more likely to want to spend that money on your new home.

Over time we are all guilty of building up a level of clutter in our homes. Before you put your house up for sale you need to reduce the amount of clutter around your house. It makes the place look untidy and it also says to potential buyers that this space is too small and not able to meet storage needs and that is a message that you do not want to send. Anything that you have not used for more than 12 months should be packaged up and sent to a charity.

Cupboards, pantry and wardrobes should all be neat, organized and tidy. Items should be arranged in a logical manner and home decor accents like storage boxes should be purchased to place all the bits and pieces in neatly. When these spaces are well organized it sends potential buyers the message that you look after all areas of your home and keep it maintained.

You should do small repairs to your home to ensure that everything around the place is working well. Wooden floors should be re-polished, tiles cleaned and re-grouted if necessary and carpet should be thoroughly cleaned with a dry wet vacuum that is capable of sucking up all the grime that likes to hang out in carpets.

All light fittings and fans should be thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed down. These are often forgotten about when cleaning and can have a lot of dust and grime built up on them. All chrome bathroom fittings should be in good condition and light switches and plugs all working and safe.

It is a good idea to repaint rooms that are most used such as the kitchen, living room and bathroom. A fresh paint job can instantly make a house look refreshed. The colors that you choose should be neutral, many people can be put off a house by color schemes that they do not like.

Prior to the real estate agent coming to value your home you should take a critical walk through the home to try and see it through objective eyes. There may be little improvements that you can make to the home without expense that will help to get a better price for the sale and a quicker sale on top of that.
