Washington Park Real Estate — A Solid History

One of the nation’s most prized neighborhoods was created once upon a time by a gardener, a ditch digger, and a buffalo wallow.

Washington Park Real Estate typifies the marriage between beautiful homes and the great urban outdoors. The park is a gathering place where we exercise, play volleyball, throw the frisbee, play with our dogs and enjoy the magnificent gardens. The Washington Park neighborhood is full of cool hunters, empty nesters, real estate investors, long-term residents and newcomers from other parts of the world. It is lively, tranquil, bright, and magnificent. It is close to everything the city of Denver offers and boasts a magnificent view of the Rocky Mountains and the famous Colorado blue sky.

The Washington Park Real Estate Architecture is a random, but lovely mix of the old and new with original brick bungalows and new infill development snuggled together, side-by-side.

The ditch still exists, but very few are aware of its history. The water it carries today is there for the impromptu dog romps and not to satisfy the thirst of Denver as was originally planned. The gardener’s cart brought the trees and plants that today give the park its beautiful and serene urban outdoor playground. The buffalo wallow today is a beautiful lake used by the ducks and geese, as well as the occasional fisherman.

Balls are everywhere. Bocce balls, tennis balls, volleyballs, soccer balls, croquet balls, and footballs all fly and roll and bounce amid the huffing and puffing and gleeful laughter of the residents and visitors alike.

Residents of Washington Park are known for their well manicured lawns and beautiful gardens. They relax on the porch with a cup of coffee or glass of wine and wave hello and goodbye to those passing by. Neighbors are often seen carrying food across lawns to share with the folks next-door. And the beating of hammers, the buzz of saws and the grumble of trucks may be heard in the background as the neighborhood continually evolves. Given this scene, why wouldn’t Washington Park real estate values be strong? They are. Washington Park has seen the strongest appreciation in prices of any Denver neighborhood over the last 13 years, averaging 10% per year. The arrival of the young families, renovation work in the kitchens and baths, and the new construction that bring larger, contemporary homes, all contribute to the strong values. For those of you interested in a great urban outdoor lifestyle in a charming, conveniently located neighborhood with an eclectic mix of old and new in residents and architecture and strong real estate price appreciation, Washington Park Real Estate seems like home for all those reasons and more. And to think it all started with a ditch digger, gardener, and a buffalo wallow.
